It was a cold Tuesday afternoon, and from the inside looking out, I watched as trickles of rain plummeted from the overcast skies. Raindrops created small pools on the sidewalks and on the streets, and as my officemate entered the establishment with his friend, they brought with them a slight yet chilly gust of wind when they parted open the glass doors.
With weather like this, it’s comfier to be indoors and relax with some comfort food, and that was exactly what we did right there in Farm to Table Restaurant owned by Iloilo’s premier chef, Pauline Banusing, where you can feast on meals made from fresh farm produce.
The three of us settled ourselves in our table where a variety of healthy and filling dishes were laid out before us. There was Pork Kebab, Chicken Kebab, Veggie Tofu Scramble, and Beef Steak Tagalog. They came with free organic salad and ginger lemon iced tea. All these for only Php199 served every lunch time from 11 am to 3 pm for the month of July 2017, now how about that?
As dinner ensued, we took in the cozy interiors of the place – the wide wooden table by the counter with a lamp of recycled bottles that glistened overhead; then a number of farm produce utilized as table decors as a subtle nod to the resto’s name and the owner’s fondness for the simple and happy life at the farm. Also, shelves filled with wine from different countries around the world lined up the sides near the entrance for those who love having a good drink with friends after meals!
So, should your cravings for hearty and healthy food beckon, Farm to Table awaits! Not only are you eating right, you’re also helping farmers and their livelihood!
